The Board of Education recognized the students and faculty involved with New Milford High School’s literary magazine “The Piper” at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
“The Piper” was one of three Connecticut schools to receive a ranking of “superior,” which is awarded to schools that earn 91 to 100 points. The magazine received an “excellent” ranking for three years prior to the 2016 competition, which is for publications that receive scores of 81 to 90 points. The other two categories are “above average,” for scores of 71 to 80 points and “average,” for 70 points or below.
“You put New Milford on the map and you moved from excellent to superior,” Superintendent of Schools Joshua Smith said.
NCTE received 334 submissions across the country.
